Greetings bears
As noted via the Polar Bears Facebook page, registrations
for the 2019-20 ACT Sunday Social Cricket
tournaments are now open. With
that in mind we need to get a strong indication of availability for the
upcoming season. All we need from you is as follows:
- Reply to this email no later than 18th
August (and/or email drady via drady321@gmail.com)
with the following details:
- Name (and your nickname) AND
Committee members will be hounding you if we’ve not heard
from you by then.
Have a someone interested in playing? Hook them up to
our Polar Bears Facebook page or email and
get them to email me directly
via drady321@gmail.com with the above
details, along with their email,
home address and phone number (needed for
insurance purposes).
Looking for some more detail? The tournament
tends to operates as follows (good for new members):
-
Club webpage - https://www.polarbearscc.org/ we also have a Facebook page.
-
Tournament webpage - https://actsocialcricket.com/ .
This includes ground locations, fixtures,
tournament rules etc.
-
Frequency
– the tournament is fortnightly, however the club historically has fielded two
teams
so the club can play weekly (across two grades).
-
Player registration and insurance -
NIL - The club has raised enough funds to pay for club
registration and
insurance for this upcoming season. A great club effort!
-
Game fees - $10 per player on game day.
This recoups the costs of the cricket balls.
-
Cricket gear - for bears that don’t have their
own gear, we supply a club cricket kit.
However you must provide your own
box, sunscreen etc.!
-
Clothing – the bears prides itself on its club colours
and logo – we have spare shirts. If you need
your own shirt or hat etc.,
let us know. White cricket pants are encouraged, but not mandatory.
- Drinks/BBQs on game day – the club supplies
water, beer and softies on the day for a small fee.
Every week a player
is nominated to donate a pack of snags and bread. We'll bring the BBQ!
Anyways, that’s enough information for now. Once we
have locked in your availability and the
committee has attended the tournament AGM we’ll come
back out to you with further detail.
Keep a watch out on the website and
our Facebook page for any upcoming practice hits and social
events to help
remove cobwebs and meet club members. There are still a few LMS games on
if you'd like to hit/bowl.
Any questions shoot me an email or call.
