Hey Bears,

Footy finals are near, the days are getting warmer , mowers are being used....all mean one thing.

ITS NEARLY CRICKET SEASON

Thought we better get something out and about in relation to what’s happening at the club.

With the excellent retention of players and those people dragging new people along we have had to make the decision of putting in the two teams , meaning we will have the opportunity to play weekly. Hotpants is the Captain , Phantom vice Captain and the committee has offered Flowers a role , as a development opportunity to be involved with both the Captain and Vice Captain.

So where to from here ? Well how about a hit? We have decided that training will begin this Sunday, yep this Sunday and will occur at Wanniassa nets , off Sternberg Cres @ 2pm. It’s not compulsory but without indoor or any form of cricket some of us will be really rusty.

Also , we are not sure , but there may be a 20/20 per season tourney....Drady is following it up but when we hear , we will let you know. It may be short notice , that’s all.

We have refreshed the kit with new thigh pads , gloves , pads and a new bat . The new bat will need some net sessions so if you do have a hit , take one for the club and use it for the first 10 balls. Then grab your own trusty willow if you have one. Sorry , no new boxes so I’d recommend you grab your own.

PBCC Match shirts – these are a special order and we will need to go through our supplier to get some more . There is a minimum order so let Buttsy know if you want one.

NEW PBCC Polo Shirts – Great for that casual engagement we are looking to purchase a stylish polo with Embroided logo , nickname and player number. We are looking to keep costs down by fund raising. We think they may be in the vicinity of around $35 (not official). Please let Buttsy know if you are interested. The club will foot the bill for the set up costs.

Bear fundraising. We have nearly sold the first batch of 25 boxes , or 1200 chocolates. HUGE thanks to Popey who has been going great guns as well as Drady, Spooner, MacGyver, Azz, Lisa, Pommie and Flowers. People’s taste buds have certainly changed with poonapples less attractive and Honey Nougats the big improver. I will order another lot soon and ask as many Bears as possible to ‘take up the cause’. Instead of cash for comments , “sell for skins”...I dunno anyone else got anything better?

AGM – The association AGM is on @ All Bar NUN on Friday 2/9/2011. We encourage all Bears to come and witness your association do their stuff (past years it’s been free beer!) .If you want a lift , let me know as I will be driving the Polar Bear Express.
