Round 1 Match Report
The Bears 20/20 campaign started with a venture out to South Goulburn, commonly called Amaroo and were greeted with cold conditions and extremely damp outfield (the grass may have featured in the Bearlow votes). After a successful call at the toss, yep, you read that right, the Bears won the toss, Gribbs and DB walked out to bat first and GT joined them at square leg.

Gribbs saw off the opening over, but was dismissed shortly after without troubling the scorer (aka Knuckles). GT joined DB and after seeing off a couple more overs, they got things going. With GT fast approaching his half century, the Bear with more scores in the 40-49 bracket (total speculation), started to struggle and watched as DB raced straight past him to reach his 50 and retire. Shortly after Drady joined GT, GT brought up his 50.

With the score around the 110 mark and 6 overs to go, Drady, Andy MX and Diesel all fell in the search of quick runs. On the topic of falling, Spooner took a tumble when he scrambled back to the non-strikers end following Diesel's dismissal. Spooner and Damo were left to face the last over with DB itching to come back in. After 2 wild and woolly air swings, Spooner had a third air swing and just stood there and watched the keeper take the bails. Was it deliberately getting out to allow DB in... hell yes! But alas, InForm did not dispute the dismissal. DB tried to send the last ball into orbit to claim a 12, 2 was the result. The Bears had 145 on the board.

After a tidy start from Drady, the Andy MX 'experiment' didn't quite go to the skipper's plan and InForm were well on their way. Despite wickets from Drady and DB, the slippery ball was causing several Bears havoc and by the time Knuckles decided that we should grab a new ball, InForm were approaching 100 after just 9 overs. GT came within a whisker of claiming one of the all-time Bear catches, although even if he had held it, the delivery was a free hit so the catch wouldn't have counted.

Following some rare tidy bowling from Spooner and a last ditch effort from Drady and DB, some Bear history was made as father and son got to the bowl together, although 2 'harsh' (in Gribbs' words) wide calls from Knuckles ended the match with just under 5 overs to go. The scorecard hasn't been loaded on the LMS website as yet, once it has been, we'll get the stats put on the Bears website (GT has kindly volunteered to do this, in fact, he is quite eager to do so given his unbeaten 50).

Thanks to Buttsey and Pope for dropping in to provide some support. Despite the result, it was a rather entertaining game and there were plenty of promising performances from the Bears.
