Polar Bears Beat Wombats in Great Win
04 Feb 2013
Evening Bears
In Breaking News Trims Mob beat The Evil Black Swans last round (Australia Day Round). Two thing have obviously happen. Trims warning omen of beating teams in 2013 has come true or the Black Swans were heavily on the goon on Australia Day. Either way, they have the Harbies next round and unless there are a few upsets they can only finish fourth at best.
The Bears were sensational on the weekend.
We thought we didn't have enough runs. We did.
We thought it would be over by the 15 over mark. It wasn't.
And slowly but surely the Bears got on top of the progressively sleepy Wombat (VB induced).
We posted 192 off our 40 overs with Radic being the highlight of the innings with 82. Good contributions from Azz and Chook. After being 2-120 after 17 we were hoping for 250. But short-shorts, backward hat, smokey and henry the human parrot, got the wombats back into the game and restricted the Bears to 192.
The Wombats got off to an absolute flyer and raced to 0/66 off 7 overs and the game was almost over. The skipper finally after 15 rounds work out which way he is swinging the ball and got their two most sober players out to an out swinger and an in swinger. The Wombats, who were aided by Victorian Bitter managed to then lose all of their wickets for 51 more runs. They couldn't handled the swing or spin of our bowlers and obvioulsy they are not as good as drinkers as the Polar Bears.
We also fielded really well with Damo taking a great catch (which was originally bowled) and stumping (which GT gave square leg no top a cricketing masterclass on umpiring). The Bears were victorious and proved yet again that we can beat any team on our day.
Other Highlights
- HP going against skippers instructions by not calling heads. Matter of fact he didnt call at all and he won the toss. Maybe I can learn something from that!
- The Beer Baron pulling it off again. Rumour has it the Belgian Beer is leading the Bearlow, with Timmy a distant second.
- The sensational Gribbs / Timmy inspired BBQ. It came good after some alien looking sausages appeared on the plate. Great comeback which would have made Pommy proud.
- Henry the Parrot talking non stop the entire game. Also responsible for the 'flick four' early in the Bears innings. Henry loves his VB and it sure showed towards the end of the game.
- The Running Man, who almost was the first fatal casualty at a Bears Game ( that is assuming the vomitron survived).
Tribunal Citing
- Gribbsy for failing to talk GT out of that third sausage before fielding and bowling for the Bears.
Big thankyou to Drady for batting when he shouldnt of and for Buttsy for fielding and ignoring wife curfew.
Thanks to Spetsy and Armface for supporting and Marcus for his debut match.
