Get your availabilities in -- notes about player insurance for 2023/24 season

02 Oct 2023

Hi [Polar Bears]  ***FORWARD THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR PLAYERS***

If players want personal protection insurance this year they need to buy it directly from Cricket Australia's insurer through the PlayHQ website. Personal protection insurance doesn't cover procedures with a Medicare rebate but does assist with things like physiotherapy and has an income protection element. See https://au.marsh.com/sport.html and look for cricket.

The cost is $22.50 and it provides coverage for all cricket that is covered by Cricket Australia's scheme.

Whether players do or don't get personal protection insurance, they still have third party insurance through the Association.

That said, I very strongly advise getting personal protection insurance.

and fill in some information and make payment.

Players participating in more than one team
If a player is also in another team (Sunday Social, City and Suburban, Grade etc.) and buy their insurance with that team they don't have to buy it again.

However, for players in this position there is value in still going through the link, because it will register you to this team and make it easier to substantiate a claim if you are injured playing for this team.

If you already have insurance you won't be asked to pay again when linking yourself to this team - at the payment point it will come up with a $0.00 cost.

Fill-ins and insurance
If an uninsured fill-in gets seriously injured, contact me ASAP. In certain circumstances, I understand there is provision for an individual to sign up to insurance in the days after a match but still gain coverage for that match.
